Biography and What Famous For:
Aaron Paul Sturtevant began his acting career with minor roles in film and television after moving to Los Angeles at 17. He appeared in music videos, commercials, and had guest roles in various TV series. One of his early notable appearances was as a contestant on The Price Is Right in 2000. He also had a recurring role as Scott Quittman in the HBO series Big Love (2007–2011).
However, it was his role as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad that catapulted him to international fame. Originally, his character was intended to be killed off in the first season, but the strong chemistry between Paul and lead actor Bryan Cranston convinced series creator Vince Gilligan to keep Jesse Pinkman as a central character. His portrayal of the troubled young meth cook earned him widespread critical acclaim and numerous awards, making him one of only two actors to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series three times.
Following Breaking Bad, Paul continued to take on diverse roles in film and television. His film credits include Need for Speed (2014), Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014), and Eye in the Sky (2015). He also voiced Todd Chavez in the acclaimed Netflix animated series BoJack Horseman (2014–2020), on which he also served as an executive producer. Other significant television roles include Eddie Lane in the Hulu drama series The Path (2016–2018) and Caleb Nichols in the HBO science fiction drama series Westworld (2020–2022).
Paul is known for his intense and nuanced performances, particularly in complex and morally ambiguous characters. Outside of acting, he is involved in various charitable causes, including the Kind Campaign, an organization against bullying co-founded by his wife, Lauren Parsekian. In 2013, the state of Idaho declared October 1st “Aaron Paul Sturtevant Day” in his honor, recognizing his work as an ambassador for the state. In 2022, he and Bryan Cranston were honored with bronze statues in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Breaking Bad was filmed.
